Captain Morgan spiced rum is my absolute favorite for when you're on a budget. It mixes well and gets the job done. I like it more in the colder months because of the vanilla and spices. I dont personally feel like this is something that you can drink neat , as its not very smooth. I also feel that this probably appeals more to younger or new drinkers.

I love rum and if you like a strong spice flavor you are sure to enjoy Captain Morgan's Spiced rum. I find the spice flavor too strong for my palate. Perhaps I haven't found the right mixed drink to appreciate the robust spice flavor. However Captain Morgan has a variety of rum that I do like.
